 Stephen Johns is the President of LL Johns & Associates, Inc., an independent insurance agency located in Waterford, Michigan that deals exclusively in aviation related insurance. The firm was founded by Steve's father, Larry Johns, in 1971 and has grown to 19 staff members in 4 locations serving customers throughout the U.S. and overseas.
Steve grew up around airports, airplanes and insurance. It's hard to tell which came first. As a kid, he washed airplanes at a local FBO on weekends when he wasn't sweeping the floors of his father's insurance agency. Steve soloed on his 16th birthday and joined LL Johns as an agent not too many years later-immediately after graduating from University of Michigan.
Steve is an active member of the National Business Aviation Association, the National Aircraft Finance Association and the Aviation Insurance Association. He is a frequent contributor of articles on aviation insurance to numerous trade publications and has spoken or participated on panels at many industry events.
In addition to managing a growing business, Steve stays very busy raising 4 active children and participating in marathons and triathlons. Steve and his wife, Mary Jane, reside in Clarkston, Michigan.
 John has spent over 37 years in the aviation insurance business and even longer as a pilot. Over the years, he has earned Commercial, MEI and CFII ratings. John is still an active flight instructor who has helped more than 100 students earn their licenses. His experience as a pilot and aircraft owner have given him great insight into the insurance needs of pleasure pilots and small aircraft owners.
